Ryanair, the Irish low-cost airline, has prepared an attractive flight offer for this summer season, extending its operation across the whole continent. However, news aren’t as good when it comes to airfares. Michael O’Leary is warning customers to brace for further 10%-15% annual rate hikes.

The Irish carrier has announced the launch of twelve new routes for the upcoming summer season across Ireland. However, the news may be tempered by a warning from Ryanair’s CEO, Michael O’Leary, who stated in his interview for „The Telegraph” that ticket prices could increase by 10-15% on an annual basis due to rising inflation.

According to O’Leary, the price of air tickets increased by an average of 20% last year, and he expects a further rise this summer. Nevertheless, he remains optimistic about travel demand, stating that people continue to book hotel rooms, dine out, and plan flights or trips across Europe despite inflation, fuel poverty, and insufficient income.

Ryanair reported a record number of flight reservations for the summer season in January, which the airline attributes to travelers’ desire to protect themselves against further inflation. O’Leary also announced that the airline aims to carry more people this summer than before the pandemic, with 30% more seats offered than in 2019.
