Ryanair breaks yet another record: almost 19 million passengers in a single month!

According to Simpleflying, the 18.7 million passengers transported in July stand as a remarkable 11% increase compared to the same period last year. Despite facing challenges that led to the cancellation of over 800 flights due to various reasons, Ryanair showed its resilience by achieving an impressive aircraft load factor of 96%, having operated a staggering total of over 102.000 flights.

This record-breaking month also solidified the Irish carrier’s consistent success over the past 12 months, spanning from August 2022 to July 2023. During this period, Ryanair served a remarkable 175.3 million passengers, a remarkable 23% increase when compared to the same time frame in 2022, when 142 million passengers were transported. Accompanying this surge in passengers, the aircraft’s occupancy rate also exhibited a substantial boost, going from 87% to 94%.

Unsurprisingly, this outstanding performance is part of a trend seen over the last three months, since May, June and July set consecutive passenger records, with the respective figures reaching 17 million, 17.4 million and 18.7 million passengers. Ryanair’s previous record performances were observed in July and August of 2022, with 16.8 million and 16.9 million passengers transported, respectively.

The monthly results for Ryanair in 2023 showcase a remarkable growth trajectory:

• January: 11.8 million passengers (2022: 7 million)
• February: 10.6 million passengers (2022: 8.7 million)
• March: 12.6 million passengers (2022: 11.2 million)
• April: 16 million passengers (2022: 14.2 million)
• May: 17 million passengers (2022: 15.4 million)
• June: 17.4 million passengers (2022: 15.9 million)
• July: 18.7 million passengers (2022: 16.8 million)

In addition to this record-breaking performance, Ryanair recently unveiled its extraordinary financial results for the first financial quarter of the year, having reported a profit of 663 million euros, a staggering 290% annual increase from 170 million euros. Ryanair’s presence as a market leader remains dominant across four European countries, boasting the highest market shares in Ireland (58%), Italy (38%), Poland (37%) and Spain (24%).
